Sheriff Announces New Rogers
County Tip Line
918-341-3620 now open for tips
Sheriff Scott Walton
announced the creation of a new Rogers County Sheriff Tip Line.
The Tip Line is an unmanned automated message system which can
be used by the public to report information to the Sheriff's
Office without requiring the assistance of a deputy or
investigator.
"Tip lines are
powerful tools," Walton said. "There's so many instances where
a person may have information that we really need but they're
just not willing to become involved or they're fearful of
becoming involved. The tip line creates an avenue for those
people to do what they know is right without having to place
themselves in the often uncomfortable position of calling a
deputy or investigator."
The tip line
operates 24-hours per day, seven days per week and callers have
the option of remaining anonymous. "If someone wants to remain
anonymous, they're welcome to," said Walton, "there's always the
option of leaving your name and number for an investigator to
return the call but it's not required."
Walton said he
anticipates the majority of calls will be about drugs but hopes
to see calls related to other crimes, especially property
crimes. "Property crimes, by their nature, are difficult to
investigate and there's often very little information to start
with but there's always someone out there who has the
information we need in order to better investigate."
"Crime is everyone's
business. Everyone has to do their part to sure make Rogers
County is a safe place and it's hard to judge which piece of
information is the exact piece we need to solve a case."
