Sworn Deputies must be at least 21-years of age and possess a high school diploma or an educational equivalent. Applicants must be United States citizens. Applicants for a sworn deputy position will undergo a background check which may include a credit check.  Applicants with felony convictions, serious misdemeanor convictions or convictions for crimes of moral turpitude will not be considered.  Applicants must have a valid driver's license and no convictions of alcohol related driving offenses within the previous ten years prior to application.  Applicants may be required to submit to drug testing, psychological evaluations and physical fitness evaluation. Applicants must be able to satisfactorily complete the state peace officer academy.  Applicants may be required to participate in a hiring process which can include written testing, oral board examination and pre-employment screening.  Applicants should have strong communications skills and the ability to work under extremely stressful, dangerous circumstances.  Applicants should have strong writing and organization skills. Applicants must be willing to swear an oath and conduct themselves in compliance with the Oath of Office. Support Staff assignments are variable.  Applicants will undergo a background check and may be subject to pre-employment screening.

Applicants should be able to execute commands issued by supervisors at all times.  Applicants may be required to undergo pre-employment screening to include but not be limited to: drug testing, credit check, written testing and oral board examination.
